The Blackwell series, successor to the Hopper generation, includes the B100, B200, and GB200 models, which promise up to five times the performance of their predecessors. These chips, which demand liquid cooling for peak performance, feature enhanced computational and memory capabilities facilitated by advanced packaging technologies. However, their high power consumption, up to 1,200 watts, presents challenges for datacenter operators. Building on adversarial diffusion distillation (ADD), LADD shifts the synthesis process to latent space, simplifying training while outperforming traditional pixel-based methods. Key findings include the ability of SD3-Turbo to match state-of-the-art image synthesis quality in fewer steps and its effectiveness in applications like image editing and inpainting. However, the research acknowledges limitations such as diminished prompt alignment and challenges with object duplication and fine detail in synthesized images. It suggests potential future research directions in optimizing the trade-off between model capacity, prompt alignment, and inference speed, as well as enhancing control in image editing through adjustable parameters during training.
